Frequently Asked Questions
How do I book?
You can book online using the following link https://www.shropshirerafttours.co.uk/reservation-form/ or if you prefer you can call us on 01952 427150 and we will process the booking for you over the phone. You can also stop by our Little Green Kiosk and pre-book your trip. Please call us direct for bookings for scenic raft trips. Full payment is required at the time of booking to secure your trip.
How can I pay?
We accept debit cards and most major credit cards. For bookings made at our Little Green Kiosk you can also pay in cash.
How young can children be on self-hire boats and the scenic float tour?
For self-hire on our canoes, kayaks and mini-rafts children aged 4 and over can participate.
For self-hire on our mega SUP’s children aged 10 and over can participate.
On our scenic guided river trips all ages of children are allowed.
Can I paddle on the river by myself?
For safety reasons we do not allow anyone to paddle solo. For single kayak bookings you will need a minimum of 2 people per booking.
What equipment do you supply?
On our scenic river trips we will provide a buoyancy aid for each person.
For self-hire of boats we will provide the boat, paddle, buoyancy aid, dry bag and a shuttle to the start point of your trip if required. We also provide helmets on our mega SUP hire.
Where do we meet?
For all trips please meet at our Little Green Kiosk, The Wharfage car park, Ironbridge, TF8 7NH. Please be aware that sat navs are notorious for sending you to wrong destinations in the Gorge so please do not follow your sat nav. Look out for signs for the Museum of the Gorge as our kiosk is based next door.
What time should I arrive?
Scenic guided float trips please arrive 10 minutes before your trip time.
Full day hire of canoes and kayaks please meet at our Little Green Kiosk at 8.15am or 9.15am. For one and two hour hire please specify in the notes your preferred hire time between 10am and 2pm and arrive 10 minutes before your booked time.
Hire of mini-rafts please meet at our Little Green Kiosk at 9.15am or 10.00am.
Coracle hire please arrive 10 minutes before your booked time.
We ask that you are prompt and do not arrive late. Late arrivals have a knock on effect on other customer bookings and will result in your trip being cancelled.
What do I wear?
On our scenic guided river trip please dress appropriate for the weather on the day, with sensible shoes, ie trainers and no wellington boots or flip flops.
For self-hire of boats please wear quick drying outdoor clothing, leggings or fitness gear as you will want to be comfortable during your trip. Bring an appropriate rain jacket (just in case!) and do not wear jeans as they can become heavy and uncomfortable in wet weather. Please also wear sensible shoes, ie trainers and no wellington boots or flip flops. In the sit-on-top kayaks your bottom half will get wet due to the drainage holes in them so we recommend you bring a change of clothing for the end of your trip and a towel.
What should I bring?
For self hire of boats we recommend you bring your mobile phone, snacks and soft drinks. If the weather is hot please also bring suncream as the sun can reflect off the water. We recommend you do not bring expensive cameras or jewellery.
Can I bring alcohol?
No alcohol is allowed on any of our trips.
Is there parking close by?
Our Little Green Kiosk is based in the Wharfage car park in Ironbridge which is a 3 hour pay and display car park (£2.80 for up to 3 hours). There is also a full day pay and display car park at Dale End (TF8 7BS) which is only a 2 minute walk from our kiosk and where we recommend you park for full day hire activities (£2.90 for full day parking).
What facilities are there on site?
We are based in the Wharfage car park in Ironbridge where there are public toilets (including disabled toilets) available. There are a number of cafes, pubs and independent shops within a short walking distance and a cash machine located at the Co-op.
Are dogs allowed?
Small well behaved dogs are allowed on scenic river trips provided other customers on the raft are happy for them to be on the boat, however please be aware that we will not always know until the day of the trip if this is possible.
You can bring your well behaved dog on self-hire of canoes, kayaks and mini-rafts. Dogs are not allowed on our mega SUP hire. Please advise us in advance if you are considering bringing your dog.
Will my trip run in wet weather?
We run rain or shine so please dress appropriate for the weather on the day. If weather and river conditions are deemed unsafe we will reschedule your trip to another date.
Can you accommodate a group trip?
We have a number of boats available and can accommodate large groups so please call or email with your requirements in advance.
What is your cancellation policy?
To cancel a scenic raft trip or hire of mini-raft, mega sup, canoe or kayak you will need 5 full working days before your booked trip time for a full refund (groups of under 10 people). For groups of 10 or more people you will need one full calendar month for a full refund.
