Find out more about the services we offer below.
We want to reassure you that Shropshire Raft Tours is mindful of the global effects of COVID-19 and our top priority is to keep our customers, staff and communities safe. Please read the updated notes below before proceeding with a booking:
At this present time we are only taking pre-bookings made online/over the phone.
We are only able to hire mini-rafts to people living in the same household (maximum of 5 people per booking).
We have limited availability for our 7½ mile route at this present time. Start times will be 9.45am and 10.30am (one booking per time slot and a maximum of 5 people per booking).
7½ mile route (2½ to 3½ hours)
If you are looking for a fun filled adventure under your own steam then this is the activity for you. Our 10ft mini rafts fit between 2-5 people (minimum of 2 adults) and are modelled on our largest rafts in the UK. You can hire these just like you would a canoe or kayak.
These are great for corporate trips, friends and families or a good old stag or hen do.
You have a 2½ to 3½ hour experience paddling through the beautiful Shropshire countryside so remember to pack your food and soft drinks for the day. We will provide you with a large dry bag to store your belongings.
You can park for the full day in Dale End pay and display car park (TF8 7BS) and we are then a 2 minute walk to the Wharfage car park (TF8 7NH) where we meet at our Little Green Kiosk. We will transport you and your group to the start point with all the equipment. You then paddle back to Ironbridge, enjoying a picnic lunch as you float along in the raft.
2 mile little rapid run (1 hour hire)
You can enjoy the beauty of the Ironbridge Gorge with a fun rapid at the end of the trip. The 2 mile course starts on the gravel beach by our Little Green Kiosk. Paddling down river, you pass under the great Iron Bridge, through the narrows and underneath the new bridge in Jackfield before running the short 75 metre class II rapid. Rounding the corner you then finish at the Half Moon Pub in Jackfield. The course can be run in as little as 25 minutes but you have one hour booked so we advise you to take your time pulling over to enjoy the scenery and enjoy a spot of magnet fishing.
We offer two set times per day to start your trip at 1pm and 2pm.
After departing the mini-raft you hand your boat and equipment over to our staff member and are then free to explore the area on foot. Enjoy a drink or bite to eat at the Half Moon Pub or take a short stroll to the Maws Craft Centre. The walk back into Ironbridge takes approximately 25 minutes, passing by the Black Swan Pub, Ye Old Robin Hood Pub, Bedlam Furnace and the great iron bridge itself. There are lots of pubs and cafes to visit and independant shops in Ironbridge and Merrythought Village to enjoy. Please Note: After disembarking you will be required to help carry the raft a short distance up the 10 metre slipway. Please do not leave the raft or equipment unattended at any time until they have been handed over to a staff member as you are responsible for them and will be charged in full for any damage or loss of equipment whilst in your possession.
Due to running the rapid children under the age of 10 cannot participate. All safety equipment is provided including buoyancy aids, paddles, dry bag, helmets and magnet fishing lines and we will provide a map to help you navigate along the way. This activity is more suitable for people who have prior experience of paddling on the river. Please note we can only run this activity in low water.
Mini-rafts can be hired with a minimum of 2 adults. Full terms and conditions can be seen below and also on the reservation form by clicking on BOOK HERE at the top of the page.
Minimum age for 7½ mile route is 4 years as we do not allow any whitewater rapids to be run.
Minimum age for 2 mile little rapid run is 10 years.
PLEASE NOTE: As a security deposit for any of our ‘for hire’ services, we require a photo ID for each booking, ie driving licence or passport. Our kiosk employee will safely retain this for the duration of the hire period. If you do not bring the necessary documents required on the day we reserve the right to cancel your booking with no refund given.
